The following top tips will help leaders encourage girls to transition to the next Section. If you have any ideas of your own which you would like to share, send an e-mail to us at
- Build a good relationship with unit leaders in the next Section and add girls to their waiting lists early so the leaders know who to expect.
- Hold joint events between Sections and support and encourage your girls to attend taster evenings before they move up so that they become familiar with the leaders and girls at their new units.
- Invite older girls to attend Rainbow or Brownie units as helpers so they have an opportunity to tell the younger girls what they can look forward to in the other Sections.
- Keep parents and carers informed early about the timescale for moving up Sections and let them know the options for local units. The Region's transition postcards are available from our online shop - they are free but you will need to pay postage and packing. There are different cards for Rainbows, Brownies and Guides and the reverse of the cards provides space to enter details of the local units in the next Section.
