Opportunities exist to join the team developing the World Thinking Day 2027 resource for Girlguiding South West England.
Collating a library of International Guiding resources
Over recent years, GGSWE have produced resources for use by unit leaders to help introduce young members to world guiding. We would like to collate these resources into an online library that is easily searchable by leaders.
We are looking for up to 5 volunteers to work on this project alongside the Lead Volunteer, International at Home and the region office team.
Timescale: 1 June – 30 September 2026
Developing a resource for 2027
We are developing a World Thinking Day challenge for each section. The challenge will take the form of a travel game, helping unit leaders to:
- excite and enthuse their young members in exploring the connections we have with other girls and young women, regardless of where they live
- encouraging our young members to be curious about other cultures, respecting differences, and taking small actions, like travelling sustainably, helping others, or learning about new places - to make the world a fairer, safer, and more sustainable place.
We are looking for up to 2 volunteers to work on this project alongside the Lead Volunteer, International at Home, other adult volunteers and the region office team. This will involve consulting with our SPARK network to ensure that youth voice is at the heart of our resource.
Timescale: 1 June – 21 October 2026
Inclusion
It is important to us that our resources are accessible to all members. We would like to review the library of resources and the World Thinking Day challenge with inclusion in mind, to highlight areas where adjustments can be made and to suggest what these might include.
We are looking for up to 5 volunteers to work with the Lead Volunteer, International at Home, the Lead Volunteer for Inclusion and the region office team.
Timescale: 1 October 2026 – 30 November 2026
