The assistant region safeguarding lead volunteers support the lead with Girlguiding safeguarding cases. This includes leading on assigned safeguarding risk assessments, investigations and any extra support during a safeguarding case. You may also provide cover for the safeguarding lead volunteer.
We would like to appoint two people for this role.
Some of what you’ll do
- Assist the oversight of safeguarding cases for region and support the region safeguarding lead volunteer.
- Work closely with our Girlguiding safeguarding team to progress cases. This will include leading on investigations and safeguarding risk assessments.
- Make sure support is in place for volunteers involved in safeguarding cases.
- Support honest conversations with volunteers and parents/carers, coaching volunteers to do this and, if necessary, have these conversations yourself.
- Attend regular meetings (minimum quarterly) with your region and Girlguiding safeguarding team contact.
- Be a safeguarding ambassador and role model within region. For example, as part of a committee or at country and region events, training and conferences.
- Feedback learning and recommendations to our Girlguiding safeguarding team following complex cases and investigations.
- Promote Girlguiding safeguarding procedures and best practice within region, staying up to date with all Girlguiding’s policies and procedures.
- Take part in projects to help us develop safeguarding procedures and practices.
- You may have the opportunity to support investigations outside South West England. This is optional.
