Become a Girlguiding South West England ambassador
We are excited to be re-opening applications to become a region ambassador to join our existing team to help inspire girls and women across our region. We are looking for new ambassadors who can share their skills, experiences and passions to help more young people discover what Girlguiding has to offer.
We’re especially keen to hear from people with experience in the following fields or professions, however, we would encourage anyone with an interest in becoming a region ambassador to apply as we are always open to hearing from all specialisms and expertise:
- Dance, arts, music, photography, and theatre
- Veterinary, farming, agriculture or zoology
- Business owners or entrepreneurs
- Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) or IT
- Emergency services or public sector or other related fields
- Gardening
- Catering or chef
- Author or journalism
- Lawyers
- Environmentalists or sustainability
If this sounds like you or someone you know, please read the role description and complete the expression of interest form below. The deadline for nominations is Monday 31 August 2026.
We understand that one size does not always fit all. This is a flexible voluntary role with no minimum time commitment. We’ll shape the ambassador responsibilities around each person’s interests, availability and expertise.
Why we love this role
As an ambassador, you’ll be a positive role model for our members, helping girls and young women feel confident, ready to explore new possibilities, and empower them to think outside the box. You’ll also be part of a wider community of 12,000 volunteers making a difference to 42,000 young members across the South West England region.
Ambassadors will support the Inclusive and Impactful strand of our 2025–27 region strategy, helping us grow Girlguiding’s reach and impact.
Who can apply?
Anyone within the region (see where we cover here) can nominate someone for consideration. Candidates can also put themselves forward. You do NOT need to be an existing Girlguiding member to become an ambassador.
We will review applications on an individual basis. Suitable applicants will be invited to an informal conversation (via Teams) to discuss your application and the role. Successful applicants will then be invited to meet the region team and visit the region office (if you wish).
Girlguiding welcomes volunteers of all backgrounds, ages, cultures, faiths and abilities. We are flexible and will work with ambassadors to make the role fit around their lives. We are also committed to making reasonable adjustments so disabled volunteers can access the same opportunities and experiences as non-disabled volunteers. Please note, this is a voluntary role and does not form part of any employment contract.
