"Hi Everyone! My name is Jude Terry (it's actually Judith but I only get called that when I'm in trouble), and I'm the Royal Navy's first female Rear Admiral and the most senior woman in the Service. I've been in the Royal Navy for 26 years this year and am currently the Director of People and Training and the Naval Secretary which means I'm responsible for delivering the right number of capable, motivated, and employable people for the Royal Navy.
I'm really excited about being asked to be a Girlguiding South West England Ambassador as I grew up in Girlguiding - I was a Brownie and then a Guide - and remember particularly loving my Friday evenings at 11th St Clement Guides in Jersey. I've also been really lucky to keep connected with Girlguiding throughout my Royal Navy career because my sister (who wasn't the best Brownie or the best Guide) has been a leader for over 25 years and currently runs the Jersey Rangers.
For me Girlguiding was a huge influence - it helped me to build my confidence, to challenge myself and provided me with friends and leaders who supported me; particularly after my dad died.
As an Ambassador my role is show you that you can be whoever and whatever you want to be in life and to support you in learning how you can overcome any challenges that you may face. Girlguiding really does help with that and I look forward to meeting you and supporting you in being the best you can be and having fun and making friends on the way."
