Diversity and inclusion is about embracing and celebrating our differences, and ensuring we give all our members, both girls and volunteers, the same chances. It is something we are passionate about as an organisation and we would like to introduce you to the Region's Inclusion Team.

'I have been in Girlguiding for 3 years and currently I am a Rainbow and Brownie Leader and Brownie Advisor for Guernsey. During the day, I am a teacher and SENCO supporting children to overcome social, emotional and mental health barriers, this is where my passion for inclusion was ignited. The experiences I have had during the last 12 years in education have provided me with the knowledge to be able to help make changes within Girlguiding for us to offer more Inclusive opportunities and resources.'

'I have fond memories of being a Brownie when I was a child so 8yrs ago when my Daughter joined Brownies and they asked if I would like to volunteer I jumped at the chance. I have held a few roles since re-joining and I am a currently a Brownie leader in Fareham, Hampshire East. I am also the Outdoor Activities Advisor for Hampshire East. I am passionate about ensuring that all members are able to have the best experiences during their Girlguiding Journey from Rainbows up to adult volunteers. Working with the Region team to ensure that we are as Inclusive and welcoming to as many members as possible is a rewarding role when you see so many happy faces.'

We want to highlight the Inclusion Advisers across the counties & islands who make up the bigger inclusion team. We are working together to promote and support inclusion for girls and volunteers across the whole Region. If you don't already know, please take time to find out who your local inclusion adviser is.  You can also find a huge range of inclusion resources and information on the Girlguiding website. These include adjustment plans, communication passports and wellbeing plans that are highlighted in the Diversity and Inclusion e-learning on the Learning Platform. Please take a look if you haven't already. Click here.

Region have produced a leaflet offering help and advice for Leaders, enabling them to create a safe environment where all girls feel an equal sense of belonging and can receive tailored support to reach their maximum potential. The leaflet explains where you can find further information on any issues affecting your unit. Click here to download.
